I found the story in the press this week entitled “Mepa launches special unit after Dwejra fiasco” interesting to say the least. It was particularly interesting to note that there were no comments regarding this story.

Obviously, the destruction of the environment is not as important as spring hunting or the divorce debate. Mepa continues to blame the local production company and the sub-contractor but fail to take on board the fact that without the permission of Mepa they could not have went ahead with the process.

The substance was not sand it was quarry waste, and the 20 workers brought in to remove it only happened when I reported the matter to the press. Before that they were using a bulldozer with a hydraulic pick attachment! Also, can someone at Mepa please inform the public if they gave permission for the quarry waste removed from the area to be dumped along the roadside at the back of the inland sea, or is that another cock-up they are unaware of?

While the setting up of this “special unit” can only be seen as a good thing in the long run, but if something as simple as common sense existed within Mepa it wouldn’t have been necessary. But then, as someone once said, common sense is not that common.
