enson Barus led a Kenyan sweep at the Prague International Marathon yesterday, and his countrywoman Lydia Cheromei set a track record in the women’s race.
Barus finished the race in 2 hours, 7 minutes and 7 seconds. Kenneth Mungara was second in 2:07:36 ahead of Samuel Kosgei in third in 2:07:47. Cheromei won in 2:22:34.
Her countrywoman Helena Loshanyang Kirop set the previous track record last year in 2:25:29. Yeshimenet Tadessa of Ethiopia was second in 2:28:33 followed by another Ethiopian runner Belainesh Zemedkun in 2:32:15.
