Maltese Double Trap shooter William Chetcuti, right, kept on his winning form yesterday when he finished in first place overall in the Gran Premio Nazionale Italiano 2011, organised by FITAV at Umbriaverde, Italy.
Top world class shooters and Olympic medallists took part in this event.
William Chetcuti managed a very good score of 143/150 to qualify for the barrage finals where he managed a fantastic 48/50 for a total of 191/200.
This score is considered to be of a very high standard in Double Trap international events.
Vasely Mosin from Russia placed second with 190, Richard Bognor from Hungary was third with 188, while Roland Gerebics placed fourth with 182.
Meanwhile, Maltese 14-year-old Nathan Lee Xuereb managed to qualify for the barrage final among the seniors with a score of 139 and managed another 39 to finish fifth overall with a score of 178.
Rathore Chilly from India placed sixth with a 172 score.
Malta Shooting Sport Federation coach Jimmy Bugeja, who is assisting the double trap shooters, was very pleased with their performance.
