In the opening minute, St Venera keeper Warren Cuschieri had to come out of his goal to block on Harun Ahmed Muhamed.

In the 26th minute St.Venera’s striker Dylan Mercieca shot just high over the bar and four minutes later Siggiewi went close through Jason Camilleri following good work by Harun Ahmed Muhamed.

At the other end St Venera were unlucky to hit the post off a shot by Jeffrey Zammit and in added time Cuschieri once again foiled Siggiewi off a shot by Roderick Farrugia.

After the change of ends Siggiewi sustained the pressure and after just six minutes a shot by Josef Vassallo ended just wide.

They were then again close through a Jason Camilleri free-kick with St Venera wasting a clear opportunity through Jeffrey Zammit with Siggiewi coming back strongly as the St Venera keeper brought off difficult saves to deny Roderick Farrugia and Kim Buhagiar.

In the 78th minute Siggiewi’s substitute Roland Agius headed onto the post and the same player was then denied by Cuschieri.

In the 87th minute Siggiewi were again very close through Mark Camilleri but in the 89th minute they managed to force extra-time as Jason Camilleri unleashed a strong shot from a well-taken free-kick to beat the St Venera goalkeeper

During the first-half of extra-time Siggiewi continued to dictate the run of play. In the 101st minute a shot by Harun Ahmed Muhamed was saved with difficulty by Cuschieri and just before the break, Roland Agius hit wide from close-range.
