The Bank of Valletta Winter League has reached its final stage with the three-match play-off final getting under way this evening.

Sliema and Sirens earned the right to contest this year’s final after winning their respective semifinals last Saturday.

Sliema defeated arch rivals Neptunes 13-10 while Sirens defeated San Giljan 8-7 in a tight and keenly fought encounter.

It is to be noted that Sirens had inflicted a 6-5 defeat on today’s opponents in the opening round of the competition.

But after a disappointing start, Sliema seem to have improved considerably and are now considered as favourites to take the lead after this evening’s clash.

The match will be preceded by the clash for fifth and sixth place between Exiles and Marsascala.
