Sliema McDonalds registered an easy victory against Sirens Ritter Sport to take a 1-0 lead in the three leg play-off final which will determine the winner of this year’s Winter League.

Sliema profited from some unease by Sirens in the first session to go 3-1 up with goals coming from Rath, Meli and Debono while Sirens replied through Charlie Zammit.

The second session was more balanced with Sirens scoring some fine long range goals but their finishing was sloppy and Sliema profited from defensive errors to shade it 3-2 and maintain a three-goal advantage at the half way stage.

The third session saw Sliema increase their lead by two goals to make it a five-goal game in the final session. Sirens faded badly in the last eight minutes with Sliema scoring no less than four times to end up 12-4 winners and with practically one hand on the trophy.
