Sliema McDonalds easily defeated Sirens Ritter Sports 13-6 in the second play off to claim the 2011 Waterpolo Winter League.

Sliema virtually tied up the match in a first session blitz which they won 6-1 with Soler and Meli both scoring twice. But Sirens came roaring back in the second session prevailing 3-1 with Mercieca scoring four times.

However the St Paul’s Bay team’s resurgence was to be short lived as Sliema came back in the third session with some fine counters to win it 4-2 practically deciding the match with a session to go.

The final session was merely academic with Sliema also prevailing 2-0 to add the icing on the cake and claim the first honour of the season.

The winners trophy was presented to Sliema captain Clint Debono by BOV Chief Officer Peter Perrotti.
