An exhibition of Maltese Art (1976-2010) in the World is being held at the Tempra Museum of Contemporary At at the Mgarr Local Council until 30 May. This is being organised by the 2011 Malta Arts Biennale with the works of 71 Maltese artists as well as the participation of 250 artists from 75 nations on three floors.
Dame Francoise Tempra, who is the brains behind this intiative, is passionate about promoting Maltese art. Born in Venice, raised in France she adopted England as her home, and now also has a home in Malta, an island for which she feels a great affection.
Dr Fr Marius Zerafa ,former Director of National Museums in MALTA declared he was delighted to acknowledge this new musuem. He congratulated the Mayor Paul Vella for the architectural enlargement of the Municipal Council which allows the museum to be visited and enjoyed on three floors giving visitors an ample illustratiion o most of the 20th and 21st Centuries Art Movements.
Many of the Maltese artists in the show will be exhibiting in France for the 2011 Malta Arts Biennale in Paris from 15 - 31 July at the Centre Culturel Christiane Peugeot, 62, Avenue de la Grande Armee- 75017 Paris.
A book outlining all the exhibitions which Dame Tempra has organised over the years to promote Maltese art, is also available from the Mosta Local Council.
The exhibition is open from Monday to Friday 9am-12pm and 2pm-5pm Saturdays 9am-11.30am
