Thank you so much Stephen Calleja for speaking up (“Yes to divorce, no to child abuse”, TMIS, 8 May). In the future historians will look back and ask how we could have been like this. Are we still in the dark ages?

The Catholics, so afraid of their mortality, turn a blind eye and even defend a priest or other members of the clergy. The height, width and breadth of the brainwashing are not to be believed. It speaks volumes about the Church and its unquestioned authority. There you were in church while the priest ran his ‘shoot the messenger’ sermon. And those in the pews bought it.

The Church is a world of palaces, satin robes, towering stained glass windows, and there are men and women who beat and rape children while those who do not remain silent. 

It is, by every measure of the word, a cult.
