Do Unto others

Malta Independent Monday, 16 May 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 16 years ago

Joseph Muscat (not the PL leader) took to task retired Judge Philip Sciberras for expressing his opinion as to why the local Curia embarked on a “crusade“ to prevent another civil-right from reaching Malta’s shores (TMID 11 May). If Dr Sciberras – one of the very best judges we have been lucky enough to have – said that what must have motivated the Monsignors at the Curia to embark on this crusade, were privileges and money, then rest assured, Mr Muscat, that Judge Philip Sciberras knew what he was saying.

No one is telling Mr Muscat to believe otherwise regarding his opinion on divorce. But when voting against a second marriage, he must know that he would be imposing his values or opinion on those who need that civil-right to rebuild their lives, hopefully in the dignity and stability of marriage – even if it is a second marriage. Do unto others as you would wish them to do with you Mr Muscat.
