Bayern Munich are close to signing Manchester City defender Jerome Boateng, according to some reports.

German sports magazine Kicker said a four-year deal had been struck between Bayern and the player, adding that only an agreement between the two clubs on the transfer fee remains before the deal is completed.

Munich have fallen well below expectation this season, crashing out of the Champions League early on and finishing third in the Bundesliga.
