It was another great reception for the national team delegation when it visited the Maria Regina Boys Secondary School in Mosta on Monday.

The delegation was led by MFA Technical Director Robert Gatt and the event was staged on the occasion of the annual sports day held at the school.

This was the second activity in a campaign aimed at bringing the national team closer to the public. This campaign was launched on the eve of Malta’s recent home encounter with Greece.

National team coach John Buttigieg, his assistant Carmel Busuttil and players Roderick Briffa, Paul Fenech and Christian Caruana met and chatted with the students, distributed mementos, signed autographs and answered questions put by the students, during what could be described as an immensely enthusiastic gathering.

In a short message to the students, Robert Gatt dwelt on the importance of participation in sports activities. The Head of School, Mr Testa, who was presented with an official nationalt shirt and football signed by the players, thanked the Malta Football Association for making it possible for his students to come so close to these role models.

In the end, the MFA delegation, which also included Norman Saliba, (Head of Marketing), Mark Muscat (Technical Centre & National Teams Media Officer) and Stephen Grima (responsible for Coach Education), met the school administration. During this meeting the possibility of future reciprocal initiatives were discussed, with the MFA offering its full technical support.
