Malta Squash is organising a one-day tournament at the Union Club, Sliema, next Saturday. The tournament will include four different categories to give all athletes the chance to play within their own level and have the opportunity to meet different players from different clubs and countries.

Level Men A is open to top players and will consist of nationalt players who will be leaving Malta at the end of the month to compete in the Liechtenstein GSSE 2011.

Mark Lupi, Carl Camilleri and Nigel Dunkerley will have to overcome opposition from Matheus Antenus from Brazil and Gary Nitscke from Autralia to make it to the finals.

Level AB is a mixed event which gives a chance to Malta national team ladies to play first division and winners of past B events. The ladies include this year’s runner up in the Malta International Open, Theresa Brousson, winner Martina Kakosova from Czech Republic and Johanna Rizzo.

Level B will be a well contested event open to Intermediate players and will include veteran player Geoff Brousson and Jean Balzan who was runner up in the Juniors U-17 Malta Open.

Level C gives a chance to beginners and lower division players to battle out with their own level of play and enjoy the tournament atmosphere.

The competition will be held from 10am to 6pm on Saturday with the B and C events taking place between 10am and 2pm and the A and AB event taking place from 2pm onwards with finals being played around 5.30pm.

The Union Club boasts of having the only ASB courts on the Island which are used by the Malta national teams for practice.
