In its constant bid to promote its values of healthcare, well-being and love for life, Vivian Corporation decided to associate itself with the LifeCycle (Malta) Foundation’s forthcoming cyling challenge and has donated €1000 in support of this event due to be held this coming August.

The donated funds were collected by Vivian Coporation during the recently organised Fun Walk which took place on 13 March to commemorate World Kidney Day during which around 50 people braved the very inclement weather and walked from Floriana to Sliema. Besides the €1,000 donation, Vivian Corporation is also donating €500 worth of food and medical products.

“We are delighted not only with the opportunity to support the LifeCycle Foundation but also because our support is the fruit of a challenge, albeit on a much smaller scale, that saw the active involvement of Vivian Corporation’s employees, friends and the public,” stated Hannah Cremona during the presentation of the sponsorship on behalf of Vivian Corporation.

Thanking Vivian Corporation for the donation, Alan Curry, Chairperson and one of the supervisory council members of the LifeCycle (Malta) Foundation, said that preparation for the next edition is already at an advanced stage and that the participating cyclists have already undergone a thorough fitness assessment and have started the necessary training sessions.

“We envisage that this year’s challenge is going to be one of the toughest which will see the team cyling an overall distance of around 2,000km through seven different countries starting from Prague and finishing in Sarajevo. The team which to date numbers approximately 25 cyclists will be backed by a back-up team of another 10 people who will be supporting the cyclists throughout the whole venture. These will include a kitchen team, and a a medical team which will include physiotherapists. Work is also underway on the logistical front where all the authorities in the respective countries are being alerted about our project so that we can ensure smooth transitions in between countries. By the end of May, most logistical details should in fact be finalised,” added Mr Curry.

It is true that this will be a challenge for every individual cyclist and team member but we draw strength from facing this challenge as a group event in aid of a great special cause – a contribution towards the very valid role that the Renal Unit has at Mater Dei in helping patients with kidney problems,” concluded Mr Curry.
