The game gave early signs that it was going to develop into a hard fought cup tie, with play flowing from end to end and early chances missed.  

Young Stars went ahead in the 24th minute when Christian Bonello scored with a tremendous shot as he entered the D. 

Rabat absorbed further pressure after falling behind but pulled one back in the 33rd minute through Shawn Falzon from a short corner action.

Early in the second half both teams went close on a couple of occasions but Rabat took the upper hand and in the 46th minute Charlot Antonelli scored a rather soft goal to put them 2 -1 ahead. 

This rattled Young Stars and Rabat pulled further ahead in the 49th minute through Jonathan Micallef.

At this point Young Stars reacted strongly and managed to pull one back through Joseph Dalli in the 68th minute. 

Frantic efforts to level the score in the final minutes failed and Rabat emerged winners endorsing their participation in the final on Saturday.

The early exchanges did not betray the way the game eventually developed.   

Qormi exerted early pressure which was absorbed by Hotsticks but suddenly they went ahead in the 7th minute when John Williams scored after a well engineered move. 

The teams exchanged short corners but after another period of sustained pressure Jonathan Borg put Qormi 2-0 ahead with a bullet of a shot in the 26th minute and went further ahead when Saul Halladay netted the third goal.

In the second half Qormi went 4-0 up in the 45th minute when Jonathan Borg scored his second goal.  

Although Ryan Dalli managed to pull one back in the 57th minute for Hotsticks, when Andre Ghio converted a penalty in the 61st minute, the game was over as a contest.  

Qormi added a further two goals in the 67th and 69th minute through Joseph Cuschieri and Philip Magri to take the score to 7-1 which ensured their passage into the final against Rabat on Saturday.
