Malta Independent Sunday, 22 May 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

KMS Skolasport, sponsored by Kellogg’s, organised an open fun day for both children and their parents, with a twist. The activities held during the event were themed with classic and traditional Maltese games. While children were invited to play some of the traditional Maltese games such as il-passju, wheelbarrow, sack races, 3-legged races and hoop trundling, parents found themselves somewhat reminiscent of their childhood days.

Held at the Cottonera Sports Complex, the activity was a learning experience in terms of Maltese culture and education for the young participants, when they were presented with the unfamiliar, simple and yet fun games.

“These activities help to relate the parents’ childhood games to their children,” said a KMS Skolasport coach, “sometimes we get the impression that children think that video games have been always with us.”

KMS Skolasport, encourage these activities as they serve to reinforce the family bonds as well as provide adults and children alike the opportunity to exercise in a fun, safe and learning environment.

KMS SkolaSport is organised by the Kunsill Malti għall-iSport and is sponsored by Kellogg’s, the world’s leading producer of breakfast cereal, for the twelfth consecutive year as part of its commitment to promote the benefits of a balanced diet, coupled with an active and healthy lifestyle.
