A goal in the third minute scored by Mark Bugeja for Rabat when he lashed onto a ball which initially rebounded off a post set the stage for the outcome of this final.  

Rabat capitalised on their early fortune and scored two more in the 11th and 13th minute through Jonathan Micallef.   

Although Qormi won three short corners it was Ramon Chircop who saved magnificently  from a one to one situation just before half time. 

Qormi started the second half brightly and reduced the arrears through Keith Calleja in the 39th minute. They then exerted pressure on the Rabat rear guard forcing four short corners which did not produce any reward.  On the contrary Rabat counter attacked and Jonathan Micallef achieved his hat trick in the 56th minute to once again open a three goal margin. 

From then on it was all Qormi and although they pulled one back in the 59th minute through Jonathan Borg their efforts came to no avail albeit being awarded four short corners.

This left Rabat winning the final thanks mainly to that three goal blast in the first 12 minutes.
