St Andrew had an easy passage to the semifinals after beating Zebbug R who were rarely in the game.

They will now play against Pieta H who won 2-0 against Kirkop. The match will be played on Wednesday 1 June at Luxol Ground and kicks off at 7.30pm. 

Zebbug played the offside game well and the St Andrew forwards were caught on no fewer than 15 times in the trap. 

After only 49 seconds St Andrew opened the score when Zack Scerri won a loose ball and served Ben Zahra who scored with a low shot past Zebbug keeper Clayton Pace. 

In the only action by Zebbug in the first period Sean Mizzi served Joseph Sciortino in the area and St Andrew keeper Jake Galea foiled him with a timely sortie. 

The pressure from St Andrew was incessant and Scerri missed the upright from a rebound. Mike Vella then served Daniel Camilleri in the area and Pace foiled him with a timely sortie in two attempts. 

The score became 2-0 in the 18th minute when Vella served Thake with a through ball and scored from the edge of the area.

Vella then served Zahra in the area and Pace denied him with a diving save. Later he partially saved a shot by the same player and the ball was cleared to a corner.

Four minutes before half time the score became 3-0 when Thake pounced on a faulty clearance just outside the area and after beating a defender entered the area and scored with a hard grounder.

Very few were the actions worthy of note after the resumption. The first action came from Zebbug as Brandon Calleja served Philip Grech in the area and a defender cleared the ball to a corner from his shot, while at the other end, Scerri served Pace Cocks on the right flank and the ball was cleared to a corner after his cross. 

In another action by Zebbug, Sean Mizzi served Sciortino with a cross from the left flank and Galea saved his shot with a diving save.

St Andrew added two further goals in the 47th and 57th minutes. Scerri served Zahra in the area who scored with a low shot and Matthew Farrugia served Jeremy Vassallo with a through ball and scored after entering the area.

The last two actions were also created by St Andrew. Farrugia served Vella in the area but he missed the upright and Vassallo served the same player in the area and Pace foiled him with a timely sortie.

The Amateurs progressed to the semifinals in a game which was shorn of shots at goal and goalmouth actions and both keepers were not troubled too much.

They will now cross swords with Mgarr who defeated Pembroke after a penalty shoot-out. The semifinal will be played on Wednesday 1 June at Luxol Ground and kicks off at 6pm.

The first period was a balanced affair with the first action being created by San Gwann when Nickolai Muscat served Zack Camilleri on the right flank and the ball was cleared by a defender following his cross.

At the other end, Paul Muscat served Ian Stilon in the area and San Gwann keeper Dean Sciberras foiled him with a timely sortie.

Sciberras then neutralised the ball from a cross by Ian Falzon.

In the 22nd minute Melita were awarded a penalty when Neil Bonello served Falzon in the area and was tripped by Sciberras who came out of his charge to narrow the angle. Paul Muscat took charge of the spot kick but Sciberras managed to turn the ball to a corner with a diving save.

Melita came close to open the score twice between the 28th and 29th minutes. The ball missed the far post from a free kick from the left flank by Paul Muscat and Antoine Attard entered the area after dribbling past a defender. His shot was partially saved by Sciberras but the ball was somehow cleared to safety.

Just before the half time whistle San Gwann came close to open the score. A freekick by Stoyonovic missed the upright by inches with Melita keeper Philip Schranz beaten.

In the first action after the restart Ian Stilon served Attard with a through ball but he missed the upright from outside the area.

Melita went close when Attard drove slightly over the bar from a free kick. Paul Muscat served Kai Mizzi on the left flank and Sciberras neutralised the ball from his cross.

Later, Mizzi dribbled past a defender on the left flank and served Attard with a cross in the area but Sciberras saved his ‘rovesciata’.  

In the 61st minute, Melita opened the score when they won a corner kick on the left flank which was well taken by substitute Andrej Vesic and Neil Bonello scored with a header.

Valletta became Under 17 Section A winners after beating Paola H 3-0 in their last game while Birkirkara finished runners-up after beating Qormi 8-1.
