When I first saw the photos of Star, her head barely showing through the soil she was buried under, I was shocked to the core that anyone could do this to a defenceless animal.

But I was soon to be pleasantly surprised by the outpouring of sympathy and kind actions which I have read this miracle dog inspired.

I was surprised to hear how far news of Star has reached, and would like to commend Fleur Cilia Buckett who is organising the silent protest to be held in Sliema on Sunday 5 June, for the initiative.

Furthermore I would like to encourage people to attend this protest, and take a stand for the elimination of animal cruelty. There is no option but to introduce harsher penalties, so animal abuse may be eradicated.
