The end of the handball season came to an end lately with Aloysians winning both female and male categories of the KO.

Nevertheless the good work being done by the local handball community did not stop and La Salle Handball Club organised a friendly tournament between Danish side Alheden IF, a selection of Maltese players from the other four clubs and La Salle.

Melita, a selection of players from local clubs Luxol, Aloysians, Kavallieri and Phoenix, won both games in the first LSHC triangular tournament.

La Salle placed second followed by the Danish team Alheden IF. Melita were coached by Bryan Pace helped by Clive Ferrante. Alheden IF back player Claus Sams Christensen was voted best player of the tournament. La Salle HC player Chris McClean won the top scorer award scoring nine goals.

La Salle invited Aloysians coach Milos Stanisavljevic to coach the team for the second match against the Danish boys. This shows the spirit that reigns in the handball community, though on court each team and club gives his utmost to beat the opponent.

The tournament was played in a very friendly envinronment and following the final match, LSHC President Mr Victor Zammit together with Malta Handball Association President, Louis Borg, presented the trophies to the teams.

Phoenix Handball Club are also organising the Izole Cup between 24 and 26 June. The cup is a handball and futsal tournament and will be held at the outside courts of Pieta Nursery.
