Judoka Marcon Bezzina will not be taking part in the team competition. She has decided to rule herself out after suffering an injury on the opening day of competition last Tuesday.

She was taken to hospital by the MOC for some tests to ascertain her condition.

There resulted to be no fractures, but only some raptured ligaments.

The Maltese Olympic Committee’s medical staff gave their advice to Bezzina and told her it was up to her to decide on what to do.

It seems as if they did not want to force her out of the team because she is in good condition to play, but there is always the possibility that another injury at this stage might rule her out of action for a much longer period.
