Malta Squash president Liz Said was delighted with yesterday’s two gold medals – a historic day for Maltese sport.
Also delighted were the squash group and the MOC officials and other fans present at the Squash House to watch the afternoon matches, but most especially the players themselves.
Said said: “It has been a well deserved win for both the men and the women. They have played extremely well. The women’s team showed superiority over all the other rivals: suffice to say that against Liechtenstein in our last match, we decided to give a chance to our reserves Sultana and Rizzo. They also made us proud as they won their matches to maintain our one hundred per cent record.
“They showed a lot of commitment and have gone through a good number of sacrifices. They have trained all year round for these triumphs, in short, they have worked hard and reaped the desired results.”
