A positive adventure for the Maltese swimmers has come to an end with quite a good number of satisfactions.

On the final day of competition yesterday, no medals were won but two national records were set while another swimmer registered a personal best.

The men’s 4 x 100m relay team finished fourth in a time of 3:35.00, braking the previous record of 3:38.55 by more than three seconds.

The team was composed of Andrea Agius, Neil Agius, Mark Sammut and Andrew Chetcuti.

The women’s 4 x 100m relay team also finished fourth in a new national record of 4:01.12, beating the previous record of 4:02.99. Nicola Muscat, Melinda Sue Micallef, Talisa Pace and Davina Mangion formed the Malta team.

And Neil Agius recorded a personal best of 4:52.51 in the 400m individual medley.

Earlier the swimming squad had won a silver and a bronze medal through Andrew Chetcuti – the first ever by the men in such Games – and a silver by the women’s relay team.
