Diane Borg (athletics) was the flag-bearer of the Maltese contingent at the Closing Ceremony of the Liechtenstein Games 2011 in Schaan yesterday evening.
Athletes from all the nine participating nations marched together mixing with each other.
After the Liechtestein flag was pulled down signalling the end of the Games, it was the turn of the Luxembourg delegation to receive the Games flag to be used in the next edition in two years’ time.
Some rain and a thunderstorm one hour before the ceremony started did not deter the athletes and the officials from attending.
It is well to note that around 1,200 officials and athletes attended the games. The organisers yesterday said that 40 doping tests had been held during these Games.
At the end, everyone was partying before going back to their hotels to start the last voyage back home in the morning.
