“Since a very early age I have had a love of music, as my whole family are huge music fanatics. I started out playing the drums at the age of 5 and then by the time I was 10, I wanted to test myself further, so my father and I decided that I would begin to learn the violin. I love all that is musical and I am always searching for something new to learn. The saxophone and the mandolin are also instruments which I adore playing, but it is the violin which I took to instantly and I fell in love with the sounds that I could create with this instrument.
I then knew that I wanted to pursue a career in music, so I joined what was then known as the Teatru Manoel Orchestra. I spent 21 great years with this group and I gained valuable experience, which has aided me when I present my music to the public.
My family had performed at Premier before, when the establishment was THE place to go to enjoy good music. Now, together with the ‘Premier’ I am working to try and bring that old buzz back to Valletta and make the city as vibrant as it used to be.
Ever since I first performed in Pjazza Regina, back in 2005, I then knew that I would make it my mission to assist Premier in attracting people back to Valletta in the evening. This beautiful city deserves a great venue for music and Premier offers that, along with great food and one of the best venues on this island.
Last year’s events were very popular and I don’t want anyone to miss out this year, so I suggest that people call the Premier and reserve their table. The buffet that is served is always beautifully set out and delicious and the atmosphere in Pjazza Regina is always amazing.
Premier is also the only place that people will be able to buy my charity CD called Thanks, the proceeds go to the Puttinu Cares. This charity is something which is very close to my heart and releasing the CD and making sure that every cent of the cost of the CD (€10) goes straight to Puttinu Cares, is my way of saying thank you to all the people that are associated with this charity.
Thanks is being released on Saturday 25 June at 11am in Pjazza Regina. Premier will be hosting the launch and I invite anyone who would like to buy this CD, which is for a very good cause, to come and join us.
I would also like to thank all the sponsors that have helped me create and release this CD and also the Premier for hosting the launch.”
Il-Puse at the Premier begins on Wednesday 22 June, to reserve your table contact Premier on 2124 7300 or 9924 7300 or by email on [email protected]
An evening with Il-Pusé at Premier
During the 40’s and 50’, Premier was one of the most famous cafés in Malta. Well known for its quality food and great music.
Throughout summer you would find locals and visitors, mainly members of the British Armed Forces, dancing in Pjazza Regina. This was a time when the nightlife in Valletta was vibrant and Pjazza Regina was the place to be seen.
Years then passed and the city changed. More and more Tourists began to come to Malta and we saw other towns prosper and grow, with Sliema and St.Julians becoming more than just villages. Visitors to the Island began to only visit Valletta through the day and then go back to their Hotels in one of the other towns.
Valletta would be alive all day and then empty and quiet at night.
Premier is now leading the fight in trying to put the life back into this famous and wonderful city. Every Wednesday evening from 22nd June, George Curmi (Il-Pusé) will be performing with his band at Premier.
Guests will enjoy a lavish buffet while Il-Pusé takes them through the evening. After the food has finished, it’s time to dance the night away… all under the watchful eye of Queen Victoria!
Don’t miss the chance to be part of this Valletta revival, call Premier now on 21247300 or 99247300 or you can email [email protected].
