Olympics - Olympic Day Fun Run For tomorrow

This year, as in previous years, the Malta Olympic Committee will be teaming up with its worldwide counterpart to organize the Olympic Day Fun Run which will take place on Sunday 19th June at 8am starting from the McDonalds outlet in Islet’s Promenade, Bugibba.

Speaking during a press conference to launch the event, MOC’s Director of Marketing Vincent Scicluna said that the event is principally about celebrating World Olympic Day and in this, Malta lines up with the rest of the world. He urged the general public to do its utmost to attend and also praised McDonalds for its immense interest and attention to ensuring that the event will be a success on all fronts.

McDonalds Malta Marketing Manager Natasha Giorgio said that the run is truly a global event and is part of the global company’s overall investment in the Olympic Games as a whole. She said that the company was honoured to sponsor the Olympic Day Fun Run and was looking forward to provide all the assistance possible for the event to be a success.

MOC Secretary General said that this event had now become part of the traditional Olympic calendar adding atht the general public should take ownership of the event to nurture sport on the island. He said that each participant would be handed gifts and merchandise from the Olympic Committee as a gesture of appreciation for participation.

Apart from the 10km fun run there are also various events for younger participants including a 5km fun run and appropriate races for children.
