Bad planning and a don’t-care attitude have caused a great deal of inconvenience for some residents of St Paul’s Bay.

Some roads are still in a state of disrepair, a case in point being St George Road where trenching work was completed weeks ago but is still waiting to be resurfaced weeks later. Work on roads that were listed for resurfacing in August 2010 has not even started, let alone finished.

The roads done were those used by the Prime Minister when he paid a visit to Bugibba; the rest are on the waiting list.

However, work has started on some roads this very week now that the place should be welcoming tourists and the Maltese who have a summer residence here, and not forgetting the residents themselves

Who was responsible for removing 180 parking slots in the new embellishment project when for years there have been pleas to increase parking facilities in the district

We are also soon to lose a free parking area for some 200 cars in Qawra. Does anybody care about St Paul’s Bay?

Some pavements are so badly broken that people have to walk on the road, risking life and limb, and is especially hazardous for the elderly and people with pushchairs.

Another issue is the garbage. There is absolutely no control − people still dump all sorts of rubbish next to the bring-in sites, while others take out their rubbish after collection time and is sometimes left there for two or three days.

The bollards and ironwork along Xemxija Promenade up to near the government school have never been painted.

St Paul’s Bay should be the jewel in Malta’s crown, yet look at it now.
