We have just returned to the UK after a lovely holiday in Malta. We loved the hospitality, the beaches, the history and culture. But we were very dismayed to find out that some of the historic old buses will disappear when Arriva begins its Malta adventure in July.
Allow me to mention my brief misgivings; Arriva always promise the earth but do not always deliver. Any UK national served by Arriva can tell you this. But most importantly, we do feel that it would be a travesty to Malta’s history, culture and image if these amazing pieces of ad hoc engineering (I understand most were built around the chassis of flatbed military trucks) were to disappear. Some should go on static display, others should continue to offer tourist routes and you could even sink one as a diving attraction. Do not lose them, they are treasures.
