I firmly believe that the existing system in having 65 members of parliament, representing 400,300 inhabitants from 13 districts ought to be changed. Our representatives in Brussels and the local councillors are not only doing a good job, but are also making a contribution in minimising the workload of our Parliamentarians, so it would be reasonable to suggest: Reducing our MPs from 65 to 33 (50% equivalent to what the government is proposing with regards to Air Malta’s employees).
In addition, the existing 13 districts should be integrated into one district (the Maltase Islands)
Conclusion: The small parties would have better opportunities to be represented in parliament.
This is what one calls democracy.
