National Team selection to play against Hungarian and foreign players in two matches

Tomorrow, the Maltese national waterpolo team selection coached by Sergio Afric will play two games against Hungarian and foreign opposition as a friendly warm up to the national team’s commitments against Turkey and Poland next week.

Announcing the games at a press conference, Aquatic Sports Association President Joe Caruana Curran said these were an ideal opportunity for the local players to fine tune their skills against classy foreign opposition. The matches will consist of two eight minute sessions each game with the Hungarian game part of the celebrations of the end of the Hungarian EU Presidency.

The press conference was also addressed by ASA Life President and Malta Consul for Hungary, Michael Soler who said that the rich tradition of Hungary in waterpolo has certainly benefited Malta with several players having played in Malta in the summer months for local clubs.

Maltan team coach Sergio Afric announced the Maltese players who will be the following: Alan Borg Cole, Nikki Lanzon, Steve Camilleri, Jordan Camilleri, Michele Stellini, John Soler, Clint Debono, Paul Privitera, Jerome Gabaretta, Karl Galea, Andrea Binachi, Timmy Sullivan and Ryan Coleiro.

The foreign players will be led by Neptunes’ coach, Sergey Markoch while Vinszent Balasz, who is currently turning out for Sliema, will be coaching the Hungarians for the encounter.

The matches, at the National Pool, will begin at 6pm.
