Flabbergasted

Malta Independent Sunday, 26 June 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

‘If you love me, keep my commands’ (Jn 14:15), and one of the commands is ‘no to divorce’.

The Church is Jesus’ Church and thus teaches what He teaches. It is the right and the duty of the Church to remind us what He teaches. Thus I am flabbergasted, even hurt, by the way many Maltese reacted to the Church. The amount of negative comments the Church received from so called Christian Malta was phenomenal.

Everybody has right to air his or her own views since this is a democratic country. Thus, according to the Maltese, the movements for divorce had every right to say what they thought. The movements against divorce had the right to air their views. So did the political parties. But the Church… no it couldn’t air its views as it would be brainwashing and affecting people’s minds.

People... can never get to understand them and the way they think!
