Following the restructuring and amalgamation of swimming and waterpolo nurseries, Sirens organised a coaches’ seminar which was held last Saturday.
It was held at the Institute for Physical Education and Sport studies.
This seminar brought together the majority of Sirens coaches who teach and coach swimming at various levels within the club.
Following the opening addresses by the club’s president and by the chairperson of the committee, head coach Davina Mangion shared with the club coaches’ information and resources acquired at the swimming course she recently attended in Hungary.
Mangion delivered a presentation on swimming pedagogies, teaching and coaching styles, safety issues and management protocols. This presentation was followed by video clips on games and progressions used when teaching young swimmers.
The concluding part of the seminar focused on the summer programmes which will kick off next Monday.
Sirens thanked the Institute for Physical Education and Sport and all coaches.
