Żminijietna – Voice of the Left, which joined protest in Valletta in solidarity with Selmun workers, appeals to the government to treat workers with respect.

The fact that the Selmun Palace Hotel was 100% state-owned, meant that the government enjoyed a certain ‘control’ in the decision making process, directly or indirectly, in respect of the financial and operating policies of the subsidiary entity, the same as with Air Malta plc. 

The government cannot abdicate from its social responsibility to offer alternative employment to these workers, as up to now the government is still in charge of these workers.

Żminijietna – Voice of the Left appeals to all the workers and their respective unions to stand united, in the sole interest of all workers at Air Malta plc and the Selmun Palace Hotel, especially now that it is clear that the proposed reforms will affect negatively the majority of the workers.
