Hamrun TFC will lift the Clubs’ Championship trophy for the third consecutive time.
Bormla SC qualified for the second consecutive time for the FISTF Europa League which will be held in October 2011 in Slovenia.
The second round of this competition was held in the past days at the Melita Band Club in Msida. One would have expected better from Valletta SC and Bormla SC following their results in round 1. Hamrun TFC, who led the table by one point at end of round one, inserted Darren Bezzina and Adam Gatt in their line ups against Valletta SC and Bormla SC respectively.
Following their performance in Bologna, two weeks before, Bormla SC were the much awaited team. The pressure to overcome Hamrun TFC once again played a hard role for Bormla boys, and eventually the only winner from their side ended up to be the most experienced Charlie Aquilina.
Hamrun TFC won against Valletta and Bormla with convincing scores. In the last match, Bormla SC and Valletta SC had to play their chances for the Europa League qualification. For Bormla SC a draw would have been enough, but they convincingly won the game with Charlie Aquilina (their captain) saying that if the performance against Valletta was also repeated against Hamrun TFC a surprise result could have been achieved.
Hamrun TFC get the right to participate in the Champions League to be held in Slovenia in October. Bormla SC will play in the Europa League.
