The World Cup of Snooker that will be held in Thailand between 11 and 17 July is to be aired live on Eurosport. The Maltese team will be represented by Tony Drago and Alex Borg. The contingent will leave Malta next Thursday and return on 18 July. MBSA General Secretary Anton Abela will be travelling with the players.
Twenty teams from 19 countries will be taking part in this World Cup with Thailand as host country fielding two teams.
The teams have been drawn into four groups of five teams each with the top two from each group qualifying into the quarter finals. Malta was drawn in Group B together with China, Australia, Thailand 1 and UAE.
Five frames will be played in all matches with one point awarded for every frame won. The order of play during these matches will be:
Frame 1: Singles (Player 1 vs Player 1)
Frame 2: Singles (Player 2 vs Player 2)
Frame 3: Doubles (Alternate shots)
Frame 4: Singles (Player 1 vs Player 2)
Frame 5: Singles (Player 2 vs Player 1)
