The Malta Weightlifting Association organised two activities last weekend.
The first of these two was the exhibition held at McDonalds in Bugibba as part of the Olympic Week festival. Two clubs took part in this exhibition, Starmax and Cottonera.
The second activity was the fifth competition for this year’s rankings.
The three participating clubs were Cottonera, Noble and Falcons. The Falcons club introduced two new members: Joran Farrugia, who gained 65 points and Hayden Farrugia, who obtained 104 points.
Two other lifters made an encouraging comeback: Stephen Borg gained 193 points and Clive Zammit 220 points. Other good results were achieved by young Rylee Borg and Cleaven Cutajar.
The two most outstanding lifters in this competition were Rodmar Pulis who achieved 240 points and Clint Grech, who gained 263 points.
Lifters are currently in preparation for the local clubs competitions which are to be held on 17 July.
At the end of the week the president of the Association, Jesmond Caruana, was to be acting as a referee in the Weightlifting World Championships to be held in Penang, Malaysia.
