The Maltese Trap shooters taking part in the ISSF World Cup being held in Maribor Slovenia, were not at their best yesterday after the first two rounds of 25.

Stanley Cardona hit 22 in the first round and 24 in the second, for atotal of 46 after the first day, and is currently in 64th position.

Stephen Vella finished with a total of 45 after hitting 22 in the first round and 23 in the second.

the other Maltese shooter jason J. Aquilina finished with a total of 42, hitting 22 in the first round and a disappointing 20 in the second.

The competition level was very high with six shooters making two straights, thus finishing day 1 with a maximum of 50. There were another 17 shooters with 49 hits after the first two rounds.

George Cassar and Rennie Deguara were competing for the MQS, with George Cassar making a straight in the first round and 23 in the second.

On the other hand Rennie Deguara could only hit 18 in the first round and 21 in the second.

The competition resumes today with another three rounds of 25 clays each round, followed by the final barrage of another 25 clays. The top six only enter the final barrage.

Other shooters, William Chetcuti and Nathan Lee Xuereb will be in action on Tuesday in the Double Trap competition.
