Neptunes already had heavy advantage from their previous match, and they followed this up with another solid victory, which had everything settled by the end of the opening session, with a 6-1 lead for Neptunes. From then Sirens could share more of the match, but Neptunes were always in control, even when Sirens had the better of the exchanges after the interval. Neptune were still out in front, and they finished off the encounter with their young players in the water, and also getting their names in the scorers list.

Both sides did not have a good time when with a player extra, with Neptunes converting only two out of seven man ups, and Sirens, who had ten expulsions in their favour, netted three of them.

Captain, Nicky Lanzon was Neptunes’ top scorer, with a poker of goals, and Steve Camilleri had a hat trick. For Sirens there were a number of players, all with a couple of strikes, Peter Borg, David Cutajar, Charles Zammit and Dino Zammit.

Marsaskala were beaten in this match, but their advantage after the first encounter pulled them through, but only just, as Valletta put in a last spurt, which brought them two more goals, but they were left one short to make it to the final.

Marsaskala came from a three goal deficit at the start, but were b hit again, and at the interval the Citizens were on a 5-2 advantage. Marsaskala eased their worries a little after the break, and in final session they were a goal behind, but better off on aggregate, until they had Stephen Micallef sent off without substitution, less than two minutes from time. Valletta scored twice more, and were a whisker away from forcing extra time, but they failed in their final effort, and M’skala breathed a huge sigh of relief, to set up a meeting with ta Xbiex, in next Saturday’s final.

Marsaskala missed all of their four man ups, whilst Valletta managed to net five of their seven extra player occasions.
