Malta Squash held the last tournament for this season at the Union Club, Sliema. Fresh from the Liechtenstein GSSE 2011 games most national team players did not take part; however 24 athletes still made this competition a successful one.

The B event had 12 entries with top seeds Jason Stivala and Sandro Zammit where expected to dominate the tournament however a much improved Eric Nelson proved to be too strong on the day for Sandro. Eric (hailing from the USA) and Jason played in the final which was a thrilling five-setter with Eric ending up winning his first ever tournament in Malta .

The A event open to top players was also well attended.

Colette Sultana one of the gold medal winners in Liechtenstein gave a good squash lesson to her national coach in the LieGames 2011 beating him three games to two thus also giving herself a perfect birthday present (she turned 16 on the same day).

Mark Lupi also a gold medal winner with Team Malta beat Swede Christer Guftaffson 3-0 and then succumbed to Brazilian Matheus Anthenus in the semi final whilst Colette lost against top seed Australian Gary Nitscke.

Gary and Matheus playing in their second final together in a space of two months entertained all with a fanstastic display of top level squash with Gary winning his second Malta Squash tournament in 2011.

Malta Squash President Liz Said presented the winners with vouchers from sponsors The Palace Hotel in Sliema and thanked everyone for their participation. Next tournament on the following season’s calendar is in November 2011.
