On Saturday the Marsa CC played newcomers Reservoir CC from the UK in a 20-over game.
The visitors batted first and ended scoring 93 runs from their allotted overs. S. Oakes was the top scorer with 17 runs. W. Ford scored 12 runs and N. Crowe nine runs being the main scorers. The Marsa batsmen made the runs in 15 overs with Sam Aquilina being the main scorer with 25 runs, including four fours.
Bikram Arora scored 16 runs which included three fours and Tim Wheeler eleven runs. H. Bainbridge was the main wicket taker with two while Harrison took one. Marsa win the game.
On Sunday, the women’s summer league continued with two games. In the first game the Falcons C.C played Overseas C.C. Overseas batted first and totalled 61 runs from their allotted overs.
Wides was the top scorer with 40. Amy Caruana was the highest scorer with the bat with ten runs, Rebekah Bulteel batted well and scored five runs. For the Falcons A.Caruana took two wickets and Brenda Agius took one wicket.
In reply Falcons only lost one wicket on there way to victory. Wides again was top scorer with 34 runs. A.Caruana made 24 runs and Sara Camilleri four runs in their 56 run winning partnership. Amy Caruana was the wicket taker for the Overseas. Falcons earn two points for the win.
In the second game Falcons took on Alligators, but this time after winning the toss elected to bat first.
After a slow start, there was some great bowling from Martina Caruana, Romina Tolu and Suzanne Forsman who all bowled maidens. The wides picked up which gave the Falcons 44 runs. A. Caruana scored 18 runs and Daniela D’Amato seven in a total of 73 runs. Maria Degaetano was the only wicket taker for the Alligators.
In reply the Alligators started off well and looked to have the game in their hands. A great innings from R. Twigg was ended on 30 runs and left the team needing eight runs of the last over.
A.Caruana bowled the last and took two wickets which by the last ball of the innings left the Alligators needing three runs to win.
They managed to get two runs and the game was tied at 73 runs a piece. Daniela D’Damato and Sara Camilleri were the other wicket takers.
The Alligators and Falcons split the points which now has the Alligators on top with five points, Falcon second with three points and Overseas with no points. The Women’s league will have its last games on the last Sunday of this month.
On Friday and Sunday the Marsa team take on returning team Stockport Grammar School who are on their 11th tour. On Saturday the Marsa team play against returning team Leyland C.C who are on their sixth tour.
