Former captain of the Corinthians football team in Brazil, William kicked of his much awaited football clinic for EC junior school members at the school grounds in Swatar yesterday.

In an entertaining question and answer session before the clinic began, William spoke about the importance of football in his home country, Brazil as well as his experience with several Brazilian players including Ronaldo, probably the greatest player of his generation.

William also spoke about the importance of watching games and teams to learn tactics. He was particularly impressed by Barcelona who he described as the perfect team with a set of tactics which are close to perfection.

The Brazilian player also spoke about the role of the captain in the team indicating that this was a hugely important role to fill and that players who were captains should be leaders and show that they are the boss without being too assertive.

The clinic was attended by a considerable number of EC junior students who are currently studying in Malta as well as other local players who wanted to make the most out of William’s visit.
