The crowds that gathered at the MSSF ranges at Bidnija yesterday saw Willam Chetcuti winning the second Malta International Double Trap Grand Prix 2011 with flying colours.
It was a spectacular show of Double Trap shooting when top world class shooters were in Malta to compete for €10,000 in cash thanks to the federation’s main sponsors MSV Life, BOV, Blueline, Pintonino and KMS.
Chetcuti managed 48/50 in the first round, 48/50 in the second and 49/50 in the third for a total of 145 to lead in first place for the barrage finals.
The final was over 50 flash targets where William Chetcuti managed 47/50 for a total of 192/200 to finish in first place overall.
The second, third and fourth places had to be decided by a shoot off where Hakan Dahlby from Sweden finished second with 143+47=190+s/off+10. Davide Gasparini from Italy was third with 141+49=190+s/off+9 and Francesco D’Aniello from Italy, fourth with 141+49+s/of+5
Almutairi Saad from Kuwait was fifth with 141+48=189, while another Italian, Chainese Alessandro, was sixth with 142+46=188
Maltese shooter Nathan Lee Xuereb managed 135/150 and finished in 11th place.
