The Maltese Krav Maga team (photo) has just finished their annual training session in Palermo under the constant tuition of Master Rosario Citarda.

The team has been accompanied and formed by the local national director Keith Galea that has conducted all the training sessions and preparations for the Street self defence world championship.

During the last weekend of June the Maltese Krav Maga students had this unique opportunity to be trained by the top Italian Master who has been following the Maltese school for the past year.

The training included various hand to hand combat and carjacking techniques. Both sessions included armed and un-armed combat techniques, the last day of the training included a competition between all schools that fall under the WTKA, where various disciplines presented their self defence techniques, including Wing Chun and Jeet Kune Do.

This was the first experience for the Maltese level 1 team that where only one decimal of a point away from entering the first final four teams, other teams were formed by various assistant instructors, trainers and instructors which made the competition of a higher level than expected.

The Maltese team was facing, among other competitors, two important teams (Krav Maga Lazio and AIKM Krav Maga Palermo) that practise Krav Maga as their full time occupation. The latter are currently the holders of the world championship title. The competition was a huge success since Krav Maga has only been practised in Malta for the last nine months.

While training with the top best trainers from all over Europe, the Maltese team has challenged other schools for future competitions next year as this event will become an annual challenge for the Maltese Krav Maga team.
