Reigning open water swimming champions Davina Mangion and Roberto Demicoli maintained their position at the top of their respective championships’ standings with victories in the third race, held recently at St. Paul’s Bay.
Mangion had an easy ride as she swam unchallenged to the finish buoy, covering the two kilometres in 27 minutes, 33 seconds in front of Marian Belsten (32:48) and Charis Ceccarelli ((34:14).
In the Males race, Roberto Demicoli only managed to beat his Birkirkara St. Joseph team-mate Simon Zammit in the final stages of the race. Demicoli’s winning time was 29 minutes, 50 seconds, two seconds better than Zammit’s. Wayne Agius was third in 32 minutes 41 seconds.
