Neptunes put in seventeen goals past Sirens in each of the three matches played previously. This time they reached that tally in three sessions.
It was actually Sirens who started the game with a brace of goals, but then they were overwhelmed by a twelve goal blitz, till the interval, only able to reply in the last seconds, before the break.
The third session was a more balanced one, as Sirens made good use of their numerical superiority, but in the final session Neptunes put up their play a notch higher, to open up their advantage further, before conceding a late goal.
Neptunes were without their mentor, Serghey Markoch, back in his Russian homeland, after his father’s demise. Tony Camilleri filled in admirably for him. Gabriel Pace was in the Neptunes’ ranks, vice Zak Mizzi. Sirens kept their two youngsters, Gianluca Busuttil and Nicholas Grixti, in the squad.
The winners had Nicky lanzon and Steve Camillei, both with a nap hand of goals, and Vladimir Gojkovic scored a poker of goals. Sirens had Clint Mercieca with a hat trick.
There were few occasions of a man more for Neptunes, and they scored in two out of three man ups. Sirens were eight times with a numerical advantage, and they managed to score in five of them. These were the first points in the top division proper for Neptunes, along with the five bonus points they obtained beforehand.
