Malta Independent Thursday, 28 July 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 15 years ago

Just weeks after their global launch, Vodafone has brought to Malta two brand new Nokia devices that promise a renewed user experience by using the latest Symbian hardware and software.

Nokia X7 for entertainment and gamers

The Nokia X7 is a new entertainment-focused smartphone for consumers of entertainment and mobile gamers with an updated Symbian, new icons and usability enhancements. It has a 4 inch touch screen offering big-screen entertainment and all the thrills of HD gaming and an 8 megapixel camera for capturing pictures and HD-quality video. Nokia’s Ovi Store has the very best HD games from leading publishers and users can scroll smoothly through album art and control music tracks from the home screen with one touch of the music app.

A distinctively designed device, the Nokia X7 is made from a combination of seamless brushed stainless steel and glass, with a solid and durable feel. The Nokia X7 is preloaded with the popular Galaxy on Fire HD and Asphalt 5 HD games as well as apps for social networking.

The home screen is live and always up to date. All users need to do is to simply add shortcuts to three customizable home screens to access favourites with one touch – new mail, messages, Facebook and Twitter feeds, breaking news and so much more. The Nokia X7’s on-demand Web TV gives instant access to CNN, BBC, National Geographic and many other channels through 3G or Wi-Fi.

Nokia E7 for in-synch-business

The Nokia E7, available for €649 from Vodafone or discounted with a smartphone plan (free with Smartphone Plan 95) is a real mobile office. It has real-time business email with mail for Exchange and easy synchronization with work inbox, calendar, contacts and tasks.

The Quickoffice application lets users view and edit Microsoft Office programs and business meetings over the phone are enhanced with a multi-party conference calling facility. In-built Adobe makes for pdf file reading. The same view accesses all email work accounts and multiple office applications can be kept open for easy switching between them. The in-built Nokia Mobile VPN lets one connect to company intranet quickly and securely and work files are safe with remote device management options like device lock and device wipe. Synchronization, back up and transfer is easy and safe.

“With these new devices Nokia promises a more beautiful and intuitive user experience,” said Alexandre Froment-Curtil, Head of Marketing at Vodafone Malta. “Nokia strives with success to keep its existing and loyal customers engaged while attracting new clients and converts with a marriage of advanced mobile technology and personalized services. Which is why we like to partner with Nokia and with other outstanding and trusted multi-nationals who guarantee a balance of performance, quality, user experience, intuition and value.”
