Waterpolo – Bank Of Valletta national leagues: San Giljan now face Neptunes tomorrow in crucial encounter

Malta Independent Friday, 29 July 2011, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

After beating title contenders Sliema McDonalds on Tuesday, San Giljan will now be facing the strong Neptunes side tomorrow.

The Saints are brimming with confidence following their impressive win over Sliema. Those three points brought them level on eight points with Neptunes, at the top of the table. However, Neptunes have played a match fewer than San Giljan.

The Saints are fancying their chances of beating their Balluta Bay rivals. If they can repeat their feat against Sliema this evening, then they will become sole leaders until Neptunes play their match in hand. Not only, but they will certainly look forward with great optimism towards a very positive end to this season’s league campaign.

But they will have to be cautious as Neptunes are also passing through another bright patch this season and seem to be unbeatable at present.

They are undoubtedly the team of the moment and Sergei Markoch’s boys are definitely the team to beat.

On Tuesday evening, there was no stopping them as they downed Exiles to the tune of 21-8, and although the latter are no championship title challengers, it was evident that Neptunes are still hungry for yet another go at the title this season.
