I refer to the statement issued by Enemalta Corporation dated 28 July and reported in your newspaper (TMID, 29 July) whereby the corporation’s spokesperson acknowledged that Enemalta had exceeded the permitted operational hours allocated to the Marsa Power Station.

I have these questions for the Enemalta spokesperson please.

1. What is the electricity peak MW demand being reached at the moment in Malta?

2. In what ways exactly was the Labour party responsible for lengthening the process of the new Delimara power plant?

3. If it weren’t for the Labour party led protests, would the Delimara Power station project be completed by now?

4. Don’t you find it absurd that a second hand power station (I’m referring to the Marsa power station) is able to provide 45% of the supply (as stated in Enemalta’s own statement) when compared to a relatively new power station at Delimara?

5. When do you envisage the Malta-Sicily interconnector to be completed, so we can get rid of the marsa power station once and for all?
