A Georgian man was handed a seven-month jail term suspended for two years after pleading guilty to stealing a laptop from a computer store.
Giorgi Kheladze, 21, who was studying English in Malta and is hoping to continue studying tourism, had his own computer repaired at the I-Centre in June. When collecting it after repairs, he exchanged his computer with a new one.
CCTV cameras helped to identify the culprit. Meanwhile, Kheladze had left Malta but was arrested on his return a few days ago. He has promised to pay for the laptop.
Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit presided over the court. Police inspector Robert Vella prosecuted.
