Neptunes Emirates 19

(3-5)(3-4)(4-3)(0-7)

Neptunes have now opened up a six point advantage at the top of the standings. This was their third victory over Exiles this season. The latter gave a good account of themselves up till the last session, but then they were dominated by intense Neptunes’ pressure and folded up. Neptunes had already started the game with a four-goal spurt, but Exiles came back to 3-5 behind till the end of the period.

Play was shared in the second session, but Neptunes eked out a better lead, at 9-6, till the interval.

Exiles were still in with a shout after the third session of play, when two late strikes had them 10-12 in arrears. But everything went wrong for them in the final period as Neptunes ran riot and put in seven goals past their opponents without reply.

Exiles, without the suspended John Paris, had Marco Cuk with a poker of goals. Neptunes relied on their trusted players to find their opponents’ net. Steve Camilleri scored six goals and a hat trick each for Nicky Lanzon, Vladimir Gojkovic and Tamas Molnar.

Before the start of the game Steve Camilleri was presented with a trophy as the Player of the Month by the BOV Head of Marketing, Edward Muscat Azzopardi.
